What’s a wide plank floor?
Until recently, planks wider than 180mm were considered wide planks. The 220mm standard was introduced and then 240mm, 260mm and recently 300mm seems to be the upper limit on how wide planks can get.
But why using such large planks? It’s fashionable nothing more. Wide boards do look great or impressive as are still fairly unknown to the general public and can only be acquired from larger shops i.e. not everyone can get hold of wide boards.
the problem with wide boards is stability. The wider they get the more prone to warping cupping and bending they get.
It is therefore imperative that engineered wide boards are sourced from reputable manufacturers.
We can supply the standard widths as stated above but also 340mm, 440mm, 500mm, 700mm and 800mm wide boards up to 15,000mm in lenght. Yes that’s 15 metres and such long boards are used in barn conversion or large commercial spaces or high end hose extensions.
